Zombies and Baseball

Hello kind folks,

So as usual I'll kick start this with something irrelevant and inaugurate the Chinese New Year ( a bit late):
The year of the wooden horse.
The last year of the horse was a water element one, all the way back in 2002.
This year is considered lucky because the cycle of 60 years within this zodiac animal is complete. Which means the next horse sign would start with fire again till another 60 years when the wooden horse would make another appearance, marking another cycle complete. Whether I'd still be alive then is uncertain, but a girl can hope. Which is also what the new year brings. Hope.

Okay, I'm not that superstitious, legends are interesting anyway. But I love chess and the knight is my favorite unit. Wooden chess sets are pretty radical so the year of the wooden horse is perfect.

A while ago before Christmas, I was part of a project (along with some of my classmates) asked to illustrate a group of dancers as they danced as vintage zombies. What was really cool was we were actually drawing them as they moved, so really quick expressive and cohesive sketches were what came out of it; perfect life drawing for an animator. Here are some initial sketches and concept work for the final thing:

What I was going for was really distorted imagery, but ideally ambient as well.
So using the observational sketches I attempted to design illustrative character driven imagery that was both morbid and ambient with a bit of distortion:

Finally here's a progressive idea for a digital painted illustration (even if theres nothing vintage about it)

And last thing for the day, here's an animated shot from a baseball film that some of my classmates and I created. I had the pleasure of animating an agitated umpire for four seconds. Here are those four seconds ^_^
The pitcher throws the ball at him so he ducks, but this video doesn't have the ball included because that video is even worse light quality because there are so many layers (the layout included)

I'm so sorry again for the terrible light quality :S
but i sort of like him in the middle of no where doing his own thing.

Yours,
Forever a chess fiend
