A quick tribute to an italian comic called W.I.T.C.H that I used to love when I was young, centred around teenage girls gifted superpowers and saving medieval earth while keeping their modern life oblivious. I especially loved the style of the characters portrayed by Barbara Canepa and Allessandro Barbucci, who work on other really cool comic projects together, even with Disney at some point.
Hope everyone gets a chance to run into their work !!
Anyway, Hay-lin looking a little creepy here =_='

Peace!

A ressuruction of sorts

  Hello world!!
To offer up some sort of explanation for a two month hiatus, my flimsy arguement would be that it's the final year of my course, and what that means is a very tight schedule; we work as a team on a film that would be completed in 2015 June and till then pre production work is under wraps, so I cannot share anything i worked on for university online yet... but keep an eye out! its very exciting stuff hehe
Meanwhile, I am doing little personal projects, working on developing characters for a graphic novel( a little more about that in the future), and of course, drawing in my spare time! no rest for the wicked ahah

The show must go on however, so I will try to keep posting regularly, what better way to track progress and keep you on your toes than to blog :)

(as a side note on the one above, i was just rewatching a LOT of 90s cartoons and thinking of how i will probably be watching the Powerpuff Girls even as an old crazy lady sucken in her cozy chair and bunny slippers 8_8')

aaand in this corner:
our girl likes staying active

Little boy designs - going for the nerdy-excited kid look hehe

round it off with some quick preistess designs, and no, we dont discriminate between ages here:

That's it for the day, thank you for your enduring patience,
Have a beautiful Sunday!

Keeping it alive!!

So this transit period is dedicated to a backtrack to Microsoft Paint, never out of the picture entirely.

Sit back relax

First things first, a belated birthday sketch for a beloved young lady, whom i hopefully get to see soon.
Happy birthday my beautiful dreamer, and a millenium more!!!

Man, what a summer, I admit its been a while since I've posted but its been a long few months without access to internet yet again (usual summer)
Must also admit, it's good to be back!!

so here's the obligatory long but condensed post, with a side serving of smile C:

I guess stuff i should mention is we were constantly on the move, so was backed up into using colour pencils instead of ink. I havn't used colour pencils since the 90s probably because they all seemed to turn into the universal shade of brown no one appreciated. But getting back into it developed a newfound appreciation for it.

And some digital stuff:

Here's a tribute to my lovely cousin Ruthie, bored of life and not even 12 yet!!

My cousins had adopted a baby squirrell and between all the curling up to sleep in your palm and

jumping onto your neck in a hug and holding on for dear life one starts to fall in love with the little guy. Hewon't stay still for long but here's some life drawing courtesy of little Al Capone

What does summer means to you guys?

My summer  means getting to see siblings after around a year and realizing how much has changed. A sketch of the broski and me this year.

Other things that describe my summer:  Grandmothers and floods. family vacations and churches.
Disclaimer: I love my grandma, this is actually the nice one.

Summer also means missing this little cherub, so happy to see the back of it!!

Pardon the messy post, just excited to have internet back !!!

The Homestretch

The totally unrelated thing first: always a fan of the dark side, just reaffirming my digital appreciation.

It's that time again, another "home on the horizon" moment, and back to Asia after almost a month (which i can't believe has passed!!).

So as a homage a little drawing of my companions during the trip to China, sharing the adventure with you was glorious :))

A few tribute doodles of probably the only Manga I currently read, I'm a sucker for distorted perspective and this one is soooo good at that!!
not to undersell the story though-  love the narrative as much as the art

going down this tribute kick, how can one not include some sequential Tarzan studies-

Last, but most importantly a tribute to the ones who share my household for the next few days, I loved getting to know you these three years. We've had ups and downs and yet stay on strong. Now that you've sprouted wings and will fly away soon leaving me to host tea ceremonies with Bridgett we will wait together for Paolo and eagerly hope for your return someday as well.
Congrats all of you,  i guess your lives have officially begun !!

Hey guys, just back from a trip to China, so havn't posted in a while.
It was exciting and different and i think the experience was something i really needed for a while.. one of the things i really missed doing though is animating so here is a tiny animation ive done when i got back.
i find it therapeutic to just animate straight ahead without a plan of what is going to happen.

another exercise to reflect the subconscious; it probably stems from a poster about the lower price of fish titled "what a catch!! ". Things like that are important reminders that in the midst of all the thoughts of survival, discontent, stress about the things the world has put in a system for you, there's another part of the mind that lies beyond this machine. All the same the machine is important to sustain a society and allows the other more abstract part to develop through perspective.

Here's some concept art  I did while in China:

And some old MEN designs for once:

Some more obscure digital characters

and a bit more traditionally drawn; some warrior women |:)

Finally a tribute to my favorite Graphic Novel as yet, Watchmen. Who watches the watchmen? I do. All the time ~o__o~

The term at university is over so over the summer i plan on working on a little graphic novel project, its just an idea but i'll post up glimpses occasionally on the blog. I will try to be regular on here, but have a super summer anyway you guys!!!

Things Squeezed Between Workload

Decided to animate on Flash for a bit to test possible animation styles, here's a little experiment that I've done featuring some smoke and what turned into my brother's face.

Also, some good news, by some stroke of luck the lost USB I mentioned in the last post has found its way back to me so I get to post up the Gorillaz tribute i worked on last month :)

I like Russel the best of the group. He's had quite a rough past, is the sensible one of the group and always looks out for Noodle. Although he does get possessed by spirits of his dead friends sometimes.

It's based on the music video for On Melancholy Hill, and coincidentally while working on it, one of the animators for the same video showed up at our university for a guest lecture!
That was well inspiring
Its real cool when life throws you odd moments of relativity.

Unless you're paranoid that its a conspiracy

The last thing I'll mention today is that if everything works out okay, I will be going to China end of this month to work on an internship!!!  CHINAAA!! :)))
What a way to start the summer

Will try and whip up a doodle dedicated to that in the next post perhaps ?

PEACE
